One number, day or night.

Our emergency line, 866-678-2655, is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Office hours are Mon–Fri 9 am–5 pm · Sat 10 am–2 pm. Outside those hours, call rather than booking online: online requests are confirmed by phone during office hours, so they won’t get a plumber to you tonight.

24/7 emergency service

Is it an emergency?

Call right away for these.

If water is spreading, sewage is coming up, or you’ve lost water or hot water, don’t wait for office hours. Call us for:

  • Burst or frozen pipesWater spraying or pouring from a pipe, or no flow from a line after a hard freeze.
  • Leaking water heaterWater pooling around a tank or tankless unit.
  • Sewage backupWastewater coming up through floor drains, tubs, or toilets.
  • Overflowing toiletStill rising after you’ve closed the valve behind it.
  • No water at allEvery tap is dry and your water utility reports no outage.
  • Sump pump failureThe pump won’t run while water rises in the pit, especially during a storm.
  • No hot waterA water heater that has stopped completely, especially in winter.
  • Water near electricalA leak reaching outlets, the electrical panel, or ceiling light fixtures.

Smell gas? Leave the house first, then call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Don’t use light switches or phones indoors.

Before we arrive

Stop the water, limit the damage.

A few minutes can be the difference between a wet floor and a ruined ceiling. If it’s safe, do this while we’re on the way.

    01

Shut off the main water valve

It’s usually where the water line enters the house, often in the basement or crawl space near the meter, on the wall facing the street. Turn a round wheel clockwise until it stops, or turn a lever a quarter turn so it sits across the pipe.

    02

Or close the fixture’s own valve

For one toilet, sink, or appliance, turn the small stop valve behind or beneath it clockwise. The rest of the house keeps its water.

    03

Turn off a leaking water heater

Set a gas unit’s control to “Pilot” or “Off,” or switch an electric unit off at its breaker. Then close the cold-water valve on the pipe feeding it.

    04

    Drain the lines

Once the main is off, open a few cold taps, starting with the lowest one in the house, to drain the water left in the pipes and relieve pressure.

    05

    Keep clear of electricity

If water has reached outlets, appliances, or the panel, stay out of it. Switch off breakers only if you can reach the panel while standing somewhere dry.

    06

    Stop using drains

With a sewage backup, don’t flush, run taps, or start the washer or dishwasher until we’ve cleared the line. Water you send down can come back up.

Can it wait?

These can usually wait for office hours.

Some problems are a nuisance but won’t damage your home overnight. Contain them, then book online or call during office hours.

  • Dripping faucetClose the stop valve under the sink, or set a cup under the drip.
  • Running toiletClose the valve behind the toilet until we can replace the parts.
  • One slow drainUse another sink or tub. Skip chemical drain cleaners; they can corrode pipes.
  • One clogged toiletIf there’s another toilet in the house, use it until we arrive.
  • Low pressure at one tapUsually a clogged aerator or cartridge, not a failing line.
  • Small, contained dripSet a bucket under it and close that fixture’s stop valve.

Not sure which side your problem falls on? Call and describe it. We’ll tell you whether it can wait.

FAQ

Emergency plumbing questions.

Still wondering about something? Our team is happy to help.

Do you really answer at night and on weekends?

Yes. Our emergency line, 866-678-2655, is answered 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Office hours (Mon–Fri 9 am–5 pm · Sat 10 am–2 pm) are for booking routine visits.

How fast can you get here?

It depends on the time, the weather, and how many emergencies are already underway; a hard freeze can bring many calls at once. Our shop is in New Providence, close to every town we serve, and we’ll give you an arrival estimate when you call.

How much does an emergency plumber cost?

It depends on the problem and the repair it needs. You get an upfront price before any work begins, so you approve the cost before we start. No surprises.

Where is my main water shut-off valve?

In most homes it’s in the basement or crawl space, on the wall facing the street where the water line comes in, near the meter. In homes without a basement, check the utility closet, garage, or near the water heater. The valve at the curb belongs to the water utility and needs a special key. Ask us to point out yours during any visit.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave the house right away and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Don’t use light switches, appliances, or phones indoors, and don’t look for the leak yourself. Once the utility has made it safe, we can repair the gas line or appliance.

Which towns do you cover?

New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Summit, Gillette, Chatham, Madison, Basking Ridge, and Bernardsville, and nearby Central New Jersey towns. Outside that area? Call anyway and we’ll tell you whether we can reach you.
